Modernization, not automatic rewrite
A legacy PHP codebase running an outdated framework version or unpatched dependencies is a real security and maintainability risk - but the default fix shouldn't automatically be "rewrite everything." A full rewrite carries significant risk of introducing new bugs into working business logic, and often costs far more than incremental modernization. We start by assessing what's actually salvageable versus what genuinely needs replacing.
What we assess and fix
- Security audit first - outdated dependencies with known vulnerabilities, deprecated PHP functions, and unpatched framework versions get prioritized over cosmetic code quality issues
- Incremental framework upgrades where feasible - moving through intermediate versions rather than a risky single jump that breaks compatibility across the whole application
- Refactoring genuinely problematic areas (identified by the audit) rather than rewriting working code that doesn't need to change
- Test coverage added to critical paths before refactoring them, so changes can be verified rather than hoped to be correct
Our process
1. Security and dependency audit
Identifying actual vulnerabilities and deprecated code, prioritized by real risk rather than a generic "modernize everything" list.
2. Decide: patch, upgrade, or rewrite (per module)
Different parts of a codebase often warrant different treatment - we make this decision module by module, not as one blanket approach for the whole application.
3. Incremental changes with testing
Changes made in stages with verification at each step, rather than one large risky deployment.
4. Documentation of what changed and why
So future maintenance (by your team or anyone else) understands the current state without archaeology.

Rs 80,000-400,000 depending on codebase size, how outdated the current stack is, and how much of it needs genuine refactoring versus patching.
